The town of Holíč lies in western Slovakia, in the Záhorie region, 88 km north of the country capital Bratislava. The town is located in the northern part of the Trnava self-governing region and is 72 km northwest of Trnava, the regional capital. Administratively, it is a part of the Skalica district and lies just 7 km to the southwest of this district town.
The town is located on Slovakia's northern border with the Czech Republic and is an entrance gate from Czech Republic into Slovakia, with the Holíč-Hodonín border crossing on the first class road E 51, which connects west Slovakia's Nitra and Trnava regions with Brno (65 km away) in Moravia. The nearest neighboring town is Hodonín (5 km) in the Czech Republic. Holíč lies on the northern Záhorie lowlands at the meeting of two morphological units – the Chvojnická downs and the Lower Moravian depression.
